Halloween: The Spooktacular Night of Fun! π
Hey kids! Get ready to discover the most BOO-tiful holiday of the year – Halloween! Every October 31st, children around the world dress up in costumes, go trick-or-treating, and enjoy a night filled with spooky fun and sweet treats!
The Story of Hallowe’en
Long ago, over 2,000 years ago, the Celtic people celebrated a festival called Samhain (pronounced “sow-in”). They believed that on the last day of October, the boundary between our world and the spirit world became very thin. They would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off spooky spirits!
When Christianity spread to Celtic lands, the church created “All Saints’ Day” on November 1st. The night before became known as “All Hallows’ Eve,” which eventually turned into “Halloween”! Over time, Halloween changed from a spooky celebration into the fun holiday we know today.
